EDIT: FULL VIEW! Well, I've just seen that when in small view it has a black background and it looks really ugly! >__< Should I change the format?
My half of an art trade on Gaia of an OC. My first art trade ever, actually.
I wanted to do something with a little action to it and this pose came to me pretty easily. Which is odd since I usually spend weeks having no clue what to draw.
I intentionally slacked on some parts. I said I was going to do a simple sketch, but it ended up as lineart. (My idea of a simple sketch is very different from a lot of other people's. >_> As a perfectionist, I have a hard time keeping a picture looking like a bunch of scribbles.) Anyway, I stopped myself from putting a FULL effort into perfecting it as best I could. It was pretty hard, actually. I hate having to let things go when I know they could be better. But, I didn't want to do a complete waist up picture because I have an auction for a waist up picture right now that's going pretty high.
Bleh, commissions and art trades are complicated. I like freebies better.
I drew this in one day. I'm surprised at how well it did come out considering I'm awful with actiony poses. I didn't have as much trouble as I do with even normal pictures.

Time passed, and so did the story of Jack O'Lantern. It is said he still lives in that old house, untouched by time-- Trapped by an ever-changing world that does not understand him...

This is sublime, im really impressed by it, the pose looks so happy and natural also , no limbs look twisted or wrong.. The hair is stunning and i love the expression, the style of the eyes too and the perspective all work so well, ive been staring at it for a while, i love the colours you have chosen as well as it goes very well with the mood of the pose, bright and happy <3 i like the small details you have put in like the stitches and the hems in the clothging and the cracks under the arm pit and boot.. well not cracks but yanno whut i mean@__@
Thank you so much! <33 I actually impressed myself with how well it came out and I didn't have much trouble, either. I think it's because I started it thinking that it was okay to slack off (I did say I was only going to do a simple sketch) so I didn't agonize over every little thing trying to get it perfect and that actually helped it come out better and also not look so stiff!
The hair was my favorite part to draw. I had trouble deciding how I should draw her hair because there were so many ways it could be drawn. I love drawing flowy hair. :3
My favorite part of the picture is actually her mouth. XD Just like action poses, I've never gotten the hang of open mouths, but I really like how this one came out!
OMG the colors. XD; I'm so glad you like them! I spend so long altering the color because I couldn't decide what it should be! I started out making her pink, then I changed it to look more orange-ish. I randomly chose the orange background color and I really liked it, so I never changed it, but I changed the colors on her several times. In the end it was between a muted yellow color and the one it is now. I went with this one because it contrasted more against the orange background.
Details are always fun to add and even simple things like stitches and hems in clothing adds a lot to a picture. ^_^
As of yet, I haven't gotten my half of the trade. Actually, she hasn't even PMed me back about this picture I sent to her, though I know she's read the PM. ^_^; So I'm just waiting now. I told her I wanted a picture of my avatar, the one with the frog hat. She told me she would draw a simple sketch waist up, just like I told her I would draw. But she also said it would probably look like a commission, anyway. I'm honestly hoping it is better than a sketch, but even if it isn't I'm happy enough with having made this picture.
It's Acidic Cereal, by the way. She PMed me asking if I would take a commission and I told her, depending on what she wanted I was willing to art trade with her. I think her art is cute.
@__@ LOL I like that ''its ok to slack off' i may try that XD with comissions i usually get mind boggled to try my best i dont loosen up and loosening up is very important i think. I guess if your loose so will your piccu :U
You do flowing hair so well @___@ seriously! and yes the whole face really impressed me the whole style you have used is really nice :V
..and yes , i found that also, the small details can really make a picture a hell of a lot better =0
Ohes well i hope she replies to you soon, im like a hawk when i pm art and wait for it to leave my outbox XD I hope you get a reply soon, perhaps she has nearly finished your half and didnt want to reply without your half of the trade :3
And yes sui has commissioned her Yay for request threads XD and small gaian worlds XD
I'm not sure if I'll be able to have that mentality on a commission, but it's worth a try. XD Usually I get so frustrated on pictures, but I didn't on this one at all. <3
It seems usually the things people like drawing the most are things they're good at. Thanks!!
I hope so, too. I'm always dying to know what the person I drew for thinks. XD
